How to get to the Lido

Table of Contents

From San Zaccaria: lines 1, 5.1 and 14

The quickest way to the Lido starts at San Zaccaria. Lines 1, 5.1 and 14 run from there to Lido S.M.E., taking about 14 to 16 minutes on the winter timetable. Line 1 alone runs roughly every 12 minutes between 10:00 and 16:00. Line 14 continues from the Lido to Punta Sabbioni.

See tickets for the ACTV trip to the Lido.

From Piazzale Roma: lines 5.1 and 6

If you arrive at Piazzale Roma by bus or car, lines 5.1 and 6 take you to Lido S.M.E. without changing. The trip takes about 31 to 32 minutes, with boats roughly every 20 minutes between 10:00 and 16:00.

From Fondamente Nove: line 5.2

From the northern side of the historic centre, line 5.2 runs from Fondamente Nove to Lido S.M.E. in about 23 to 24 minutes, also roughly every 20 minutes.

By car: line 17 from Tronchetto

If you have your own car, you reach the Lido by car ferry. Line 17 links Tronchetto with Lido S. Nicolò, takes about 35 minutes and, on the winter timetable, runs roughly every 50 minutes between 10:00 and 16:00. The driver and passengers pay separately, and there are no return tickets. The same line also links the Lido with Punta Sabbioni. Everything about fares and how it works is on our Car ferry to the Lido page.

From Fusina: ferry to Alberoni

From the mainland at Fusina, a service runs all year round to Alberoni on the Lido. It isn't part of ACTV but is run by Terminal Fusina Venezia.

From Punta Sabbioni and the airport

From Punta Sabbioni, line 14 takes about 21 minutes to Lido S.M.E. and runs roughly every 30 minutes. From the airport, Alilaguna's Linea Blu stops at Lido S.M.E. Alilaguna is a separate operator, and ACTV tickets are not valid on its boats.

You can take a bike on lines 14 and 17 for a supplement; folding bikes up to 150 cm travel free.

What makes the Lido special

The Lido is home to the Venice Film Festival, the oldest film festival in the world, first held in 1932. Screenings take place in the Palazzo del Cinema with its historic Sala Grande of 1937, and the Hotel Excelsior hosts the Venice Film Market. The 83rd edition ran from 2 to 12 September 2026. For beach days, ACTV sells a dedicated return ticket, "Spiagge", which covers lines 14 and 15 and the buses on the Lido.

Venice access fee

The access fee for day visitors applies to the historic centre of Venice. Together with Alberoni and Malamocco, the Lido is one of the smaller islands where the city did not charge the fee in 2026. If your route to the vaporetto stop takes you through the historic centre, its rules apply on the days the fee is charged.
