About Venezia Lines

Venezia Lines runs fast catamarans between Venice and the eastern Adriatic coast. From the San Basilio terminal they sail to Poreč, Rovinj and Pula in Croatia and to Piran in Slovenia. Kompas also sails on the same routes. The booking panels on our route pages show Kompas departures; Venezia Lines catamarans are booked directly with the operator.

The catamarans

The fleet consists of the air-cushion catamarans San Frangisk and San Pawl. Each has 280 seats in tourist class and 30 VIP seats, and they cruise at around 38 to 42 knots. The bar serves coffee, tea, soft drinks, alcohol and small snacks such as croissants and sandwiches. On board you can only pay cash, in euros. You're welcome to bring your own snacks.

Terminal and check-in

In Venice the catamarans leave from the San Basilio ferry terminal, Fondamenta Zattere al Ponte Lungo. Take care not to confuse it with the cruise terminal. At every port, check-in opens 60 minutes before departure and closes 15 minutes before. If you miss it, you lose your ticket with no refund. You need a passport or ID card; a driving licence is not accepted. More about Venice's terminals on our Terminals page.

Luggage, bikes and pets

One piece of hand luggage up to 56 × 45 × 25 cm and 10 kg and one checked bag travel free. Additional suitcases cost a supplement. With a Day Trip ticket, only hand luggage is allowed. A bicycle doesn't count as luggage, costs a supplement and must be reserved. Venezia Lines does not carry cars.

Dogs up to 60 cm long and 50 cm high travel on a lead and muzzled, and cats in a carrier. Your animal needs an EU pet passport showing the vaccinations both ports require, and you register it when you book. The captain may refuse to carry it.

Venice Day Trip

From April to October, Venezia Lines offers a day trip to Venice on all departures from Poreč, Rovinj, Pula and Piran. Taking Poreč as an example: you leave at 08:00, reach the lagoon after around two hours, then spend around 45 minutes cruising through the canals to San Basilio. The return leaves at 17:00 and arrives at 20:00. Times depend on the port of departure.
