Line 17: Tronchetto - Lido

ACTV's car ferry links Tronchetto with Lido San Nicolò. The crossing takes about 35 minutes, and on the winter timetable a ferry leaves roughly every 50 minutes. From the Lido, line 17 also continues to Punta Sabbioni.

If anyone in your group wants to head into the historic centre without the car, the People Mover runs from Tronchetto to Piazzale Roma in about two minutes. Details are on our Ferry terminals in Venice page.

What you pay

Vehicles pay by length. ACTV has three classes for cars:

  • up to 4.00 m
  • up to 4.50 m
  • over 4.50 m, which also covers vans

Trailers, lorries, coaches and mopeds have their own fares. The driver and passengers pay separately from the vehicle, and there are no return tickets: you pay for each direction separately. Bicycles cost a supplement on line 17. All fares are on our Prices page.

Line 11: on to Pellestrina and Chioggia

At Alberoni on the Lido, line 11 takes over. Its car ferry runs from Alberoni to Santa Maria del Mare on Pellestrina in about 10 minutes, roughly every 30 minutes on the winter timetable. The vehicle classes are the same as on line 17, but the fares are lower.

From Pellestrina, line 11 continues to Chioggia in about 25 minutes, but without cars: the boat takes bicycles, mopeds and motorbikes for a supplement. If you want to carry on to Chioggia by boat, the car stays on Pellestrina.

From Fusina to Alberoni

A second route to the Lido starts on the mainland: boats to Alberoni leave all year round from Terminal Fusina Venezia on Via Moranzani. At weekends they continue to Pellestrina for a surcharge. Ask the operator whether vehicles are carried, and on what terms. You can also leave your car in the car park at Fusina.

Terminal Fusina Venezia is not the same as the Fusina ferry terminal on Via dell'Elettronica, where the ferries to Greece leave.

On the Lido

The Lido has blue-zone paid parking. What else the island has to offer, and how to get there without a car, is covered on our Lido page. For the vaporetti (water buses) from San Zaccaria and Piazzale Roma, see Vaporetto in Venice.
