Table of Contents
Venice - Igoumenitsa
The ferry to Igoumenitsa is the shorter of the two Greek routes. On the 2026 timetable it usually sails on Wednesdays and Saturdays, in some periods on Sundays as well. The days change from one timetable period to the next, and the timetable shows the departures for your date. The crossing takes about 26 hours. Igoumenitsa is the port for Epirus, northern Greece and the crossing to Corfu.
Venice - Patras
After calling at Igoumenitsa, the same ship carries on to Patras in the Peloponnese. By then you will have spent around 33 to 34 hours on board. Our Venice - Greece guide compares the two routes and which one suits your destination.
Venice - Pula
In summer, catamarans cross to Istria. They carry foot passengers only, no vehicles. Pula sits at the southern tip of the peninsula and is the southernmost catamaran port served from Venice.
Venice - Rovinj
The route to Rovinj takes you straight to the old town on Istria's west coast.
Venice - Poreč
Poreč lies on the west coast of Istria, between Rovinj and Umag.
Venice - Piran
The catamaran sails to Piran in Slovenia less often than to Croatia; the timetable shows the days.
The islands of the lagoon
Murano, Burano, Torcello and the Lido are all part of the city of Venice, while Chioggia lies at the southern end of the lagoon. You can reach every one of them on ACTV's public boats. Each island page tells you which line to take, where it leaves from and how long the trip takes, and our islands guide puts them side by side. Tickets are explained on the Vaporetto page.
Terminals and getting there
The ferries to Greece leave from the Fusina ferry terminal on the mainland, the catamarans from the San Basilio terminal in the historic centre. For the Greek route, the operator requires you to check in at least 3 hours before departure. Our Terminals page covers access, parking and the People Mover between Tronchetto and Piazzale Roma.
Taking your car to the Lido
The Lido is the only island in the lagoon with car traffic. ACTV's line 17 car ferry leaves from Tronchetto. Our car ferry to the Lido guide explains how the ticket works.
