About Kompas
Kompas runs the catamaran routes between Venice and Istria under the name Adriatic Lines. From Venice it sails to Pula, Rovinj and Poreč in Croatia and to Piran in Slovenia. On the 2026 timetable the crossing takes around three to four and a half hours, depending on the port.
Season and timetable
The routes are designed for day trips from Istria to Venice. The catamarans leave Istria in the morning, spend around five hours in Venice and sail back in the evening. So from Venice you leave in the late afternoon and arrive in the evening. On the 2026 timetable, Rovinj and Poreč are served from May into October, Pula from June to the end of September, and Piran from May into October on Saturdays only. The sailing days change from period to period; the timetable shows the departures.
Terminal and check-in
In Venice the catamarans leave from the San Basilio terminal, Fondamenta Zattere al Ponte Lungo. From Piazzale Roma it's about 1 km on foot or about 20 minutes by vaporetto (water bus). From the airport, ACTV bus 5 runs to Piazzale Roma. Kompas asks you to be at the terminal at least 60 minutes before departure. Because of the border check, you need a valid passport or ID card. All of Venice's terminals are on our Terminals page.
